Dick’s Sporting Goods Goes Limp: May Close 35 Stores

Dick’s see drop in hunting sales

After flaccid sales, Dick’s Sporting Goods is considering closing 35 of its Field and Stream branded stores. Hunters and shooters metaphorically kicked Dick’s right in the nuts in response to Dick’s giving them the shaft after the company decided to take a very pro-gun control stance. Sportsmen said screw you. They decided not to blow their money on a company that is all Dick’s and no balls.

According to Breitbart News, The option of the closing the stores was revealed during a retail conference question and answer session with Goldman Sachs. Dick’s Sporting Goods Chief Financial Officer Lee Belitsky made clear no more of the company’s Field & Stream stores would be built and CEO Edward Stack went even further, floating the option of the closing the Field & Stream stores that exist already.

Stack said:

My sense is that we can either take a look at closing that store, that concept or reconceptualizing it into a more of an outdoor type concept and we’re taking a look at all of these things and by the end of – the peak of the hunting season is coming up in – and basically, the end of the third and the beginning of the fourth quarter and as we move into the end of the fourth quarter, we’ll make a decision as to what we’re going to do.

Boycott Dick’s

Dick’s Sporting Goods is choosing not to support the 2nd amendment. Hunters and shooters will take their business elsewhere.

If they do choose to close the Field and Stream stores they will be able to cut a lot of overhead. The liquidation of the inventory of those stores should raise some capital. That capital would act like a Viagra that could turn a soft Dick’s into a bigger stronger Dick’s.

As far as I am concerned they can get out of the hunting and shooting business. We do not need these anti-American Dick’s trying to make money off of us. They do not support the things we stand for.
