An 11-year-old boy has been shot and killed while turkey hunting with his dad and a group of friends. The incident occurred in Jefferson county Alabama.
The boy was identified as Troy Ellis. he was hunting with his dad Obed Ellis on Friday, May 2nd around 9:30 when the shooting happened. Both the boy and his father sustained injuries. The 11-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators believe the shooting was an accident by one of the hunters in the group.
Troy attended Cahaba Elementary School. “We were devastated to hear about the hunting accident and the loss of our precious 5th grade student. Any loss of life is tragic, especially during these times of isolation when we can’t grieve together,” said Trussville City Schools Superintendent Pattie Neill. “The Ellis family and the Cahaba family are in our thoughts and prayers, and we are reaching out to help in any way we can.”
