Angler Breaks 20-Year-old Largemouth Bass State Record

The largemouth bass is probably the most sought after fish in the United States, so when a state record gets broken it a big deal. Even in states that are not known for their enormous bass catching the state record is an accomplishment.

The South Dakota Game, Fish, and Parks confirmed in a Facebook post that Matthew Dunham is now the state record holder for largemouth bass. His bass tipped the scales at 9 lbs 5 oz with a length of 23 inches and a girth of 19 7/8. The previous record weighed 9 pounds, 3 ounces, and was caught in 1999.

Congratulations to Matthew Dunham on catching the new state record largemouth bass! This monster came out of Indian Scout Lake and weighed in at 9 lbs 5 oz with a length of 23 inches and a girth of 19 7/8! Congratulations Matthew!!
