According to KTVB 7, Tom Weadick caught the 21-inch trout while flyfishing in the North Fork of the Coeur d’Alene River. This fish beat the previous record of 19.5 inches, set by Dwaine Hasenoehrl in 2016.
Idaho started the catch and release records program back in 2016. Many states have used this approach as an incentive for anglers to release fish and also make fish that can not be kept eligible for the record book.
This is not Tom’s first state record. He also holds the Idaho state record for bull trout.
