In Winslow Township N.J a hunting club is having their first ever squirrel hunting contest. who ever bags the fattest squirrel is the winner of the first ever squirrel classic. It is for families to introduce their kids to hunting. There are a couple of guest speakers that will teach them how to skin and cook the squirrels.
Not everyone is in support of the hunting contest. Local animal rights activist are protesting the event.
“To make this a family-friendly event, to teach kids to be cruel to animals, I see a strong correlation between abusing animals and growing up to abuse people,” said Jay Lassiter, a protester.
This is simply not true. There is zero evidence that teaching kids to hunt grow up to be more violent. When was the last time a kid that learned to hunt with their family shot up a school? I do not believe it has ever happened.
I checked multiple sources to make sure this was not satire. Its hard to believe people would actually protest a family squirrel hunt. Here are some of the pictures from the hunt and protest.
