The internet is up in arms after an anti-gun mall Santa told a child he would not bring him the Nerf Gun he asked for. The boy asked the Santa for a gun and Santa told him “no guns” the mother corrected the boy and clarified “Nerf Gun” but the SAnta was having none of it a replied with, “Not even Nerf Guns.”
The Santa tried to provide other options. “If your dad wants to get it for you, that’s fine, but I can’t bring it to you,” the Santa Claus said. “What else would you like? Lots of other toys. Legos. There’s bicycles. There’s cars and trucks. What do you think?”
The boy started crying and had to be consoled by his mother.
The entire incident was caught on video and posted to Facebook by the boy’s mother.
My poor baby. This was the first year Michael was excited to go see Santa. It was supposed to be magical but instead, I had to watch my sweet little boy fight back tears because Santa told him No because of his own personal beliefs. I had to think fast and explain to him that this Santa was just a helper and not the real guy. I just wanted to console my baby and get him out of there, flipping out on Santa would have only made it worse. His Elfie is going to bring him a Nerf gun directly from the North Pole, from the real Santa, tonight.
The incident was tweeted by former NRA spokesperson Dana Loesch with the comment: Get outta here with this wannabe “Christmas Story” Santa. What a doucher.
According to conservative activist Robby Starbuck via twitter the mall Santa has been fired.
In an edited Facebook post the family has reveled that the department store has made things right and they have been contacted by a lot of people wanting to provide Michael with nerf guns.
Edited to add: Harlem Irving Plaza has responded quickly and with kindness and understanding. They have a special surprise for Michael that we will share later. Also, many people have offered to send Michael a nerf gun. His wish list has more than been fulfilled so if you’re still feeling generous please contact his mother, Sabella DeCarlo, as they are organizing a large nerf and toy donation to children in need! We’re trying to turn this unfortunate incident into something positive and spread cheer to children who really need it!The HIP is not where you want to take your children to see Santa, if they are asking for Nerf guns.
It looks like in the end that this kid will have a Merry Christmas after all with probably more Nerf Guns than you can shake a stick at. The mall Santa may have won the little battle but he lost the war. Society has spoken mall Santa’s do not get to push their brand of morality and politics onto children.
