Anti-hunters set their site on a Kentucky hunter that killed a giraffe while on safari last year. They took their vileness to social media and have attempted to make her life a living hell. British Celebrity and douche bag Ricky Gervais weighted in on Twitter calling her a “Cunt,” while Debra Messing from Will and Grace called her a “disgusting, vile, amoral, heartless, selfish murderer.”
According to Today, Tessa Thompson Talley killed a black giraffe on a legal hunt in June 2017 and posted celebratory photos on Facebook. The bullying started a few days ago when a South African group posted the pictures to their Facebook page. Their post went viral and the hate began.
But Tessa did not take the abuse laying down. She responded to the backlash and is standing up for herself by telling people the truth about hunting and how it benefits conservation.
In a email to Fox News Tessa wrote the following.
“The giraffe I hunted was the South African sub-species of giraffe. The numbers of this sub-species is actually increasing due, in part, to hunters and conservation efforts paid for in large part by big game hunting. The breed is not rare in any way other than it was very old. Giraffes get darker with age… This is called conservation through game management.”
She also notes the sexism of the anti-hunters by pointing out the following.
“For all the people wishing death or even threatening death to me, this does nothing positive for your ‘movement,’ it only shows the world how lopsided your priorities are. The very same picture could have been posted, and are posted daily, of men with their trophies and not a word is said.”
“It is by far women that hunt who catch more grief from the ‘tolerant’ and ‘all loving’ animal rights activists. It’s sickening to the majority of people how women are treated all over the world, except in the case of women hunters. You people call yourselves compassionate and caring, yet some of the most vile things have been directed at me and many other women hunters.”
“I get that hunting is not for everyone, that’s what makes this world great is the differences. But to make threats to anyone because they don’t believe the way you do is completely unacceptable. If it was any other belief that was different, threats and insults would be deemed hideous, however for some reason it is OK to act this way because it’s hunting.”
Well Said Tessa as hunters we know hunting is conservation and is an essential tool in wildlife management. The biggest threat that wildlife faces is habitat loss. It is true in Africa, Asia, Europe, and North and South America. Wild Animal need wild places to live and trophy hunting helps preserve those places.
Basically trophy hunting incentivizes locals to preserve wild lands. For the most part Africa is a poor continent and every piece of land that does not have an economic value is transformed into land that does. Hunting Preserves in South Africa have set hundreds of thousand of acres for wildlife. Without hunting that land would not have been saved it would have been converted into farmland or something else that generates money.
Stay strong Tessa and stick to your guns we have your back.
