Many of us that hunt are called Hillbillies and Rednecks. Some of us are proud of that. I was talking to my wife about how my family is full of hillbillies, and she argued with my about how we are rednecks. We both had no clue about the difference between the two, but that did not stop us from arguing as to why we were right and the other was wrong. Since we have the internet, I decided to do some research and see who was correct.
The definition of a hillbilly is, an unsophisticated country person, associated originally with the remote regions of the Appalachians. We are from the Appalachian mountains in West Virginia, but Although my family is very educated, no one would mistake us for being sophisticated. I find sophisticated people to be boring and uninteresting.
The definition of a redneck is a working-class white person, especially a politically reactionary one from a rural area. This definition fits with my family as well.
My family could fit into either of these definitions, and it seems my wife and I are both correct. But I am more correct!
