Bald Eagle Shot Authorities are asking for Help


The West Virginia Department of Resources Police are asking for information about a Bald Eagle that was shot. The incident happened in Greenbrier County on 11 March 2017. The Eagle was still alive when wildlife officers arrived. They were able to capture it and get it to an avian veterinary facility, but it was too late. On 3-11- 17, NRPO Petrunger received a call in Greenbrier County about an injured bald eagle. Upon arrival, the officer could see the eagle had a severely injured wing. With the assistance of personnel from Three Rivers Avian Center, the eagle was captured after a short chase. Three Rivers Avian Center immediately took the eagle for veterinary care. Unfortunately, X-rays and other tests revealed the bird had suffered a gunshot wound that it was unable to recover from.
