Many kids spend their summer vacation in front of their phone. In an effort to get kids outdoors and active, Bass Pro and Cabela’s donated 55,000 fishing rods to kids.
The stores said that many times, families spend their summer in front of the screen and not with each other. The donation of 55,000 fishing poles is intended to get kids outside this summer and develop a love of the outdoors.
“So our founder Johnny Morris is challenging kids and families to put down their screens and get involved in nature. That’s something that we really want to take a leading role and getting involved in the outdoors and conservation. We are proud of being a leader in protecting wildlife, protecting the habitat, and getting people involved in the outdoors,” said Greg Ludowese, assistant manager, at the Cabela’s in Kerney Nebraska.
With technology getting more and more prevalent in our lives, it is getting hard to get kids outside. Our lives revolve around our screens, and that has proven to be bad for the mental health of our country. Bass Pro is putting their money where their mouth is and donating their product to get kids involved in the outdoors. Let us celebrate this move by an industry leader in the outdoors.
