Bowhunter Killed by Charging Elk

Wounded animals can be unpredictable and dangerous. It is best to approach with due caution and be alert and even then things can go wrong, so please be careful.

According to the Statesman Journal, an Oregon bowhunter was killed while tracking an elk he had shot with his bow.

Mark David, 66, was archery hunting on private land when he shot and wounded a 5X5 bull elk. He was unable to locate the bull that evening, but picked up the trail in the morning.

The bull had not expired and when David came upon it and tried to finish it off, the bull charged and gored him in the neck. The land owner who was with him tried to render first aid but David’s injuries were fatal.

Please keep the man’s family in your prayers during this trying time.
