Car Hits Moose and the Results are Devastating

The following images were posted to Facebook by the person at the salvage yard which took in the crashed vehicle. The poster stated that the driver was alright and he was lucky to be alive after such a horrific accident. I hope they were correct because these pictures are horrific

Hitting a moose maybe the most dangerous animal in North America to hit with your vehicle, especially if it is a car. The moose’s long legs take the front of the impact from the front of the car causing the torso to crash into the windshield.

Studies show that a person is 13 times more likely to die in a moose-vehicle collision than in a deer-vehicle collision. Published in the Journal of American College of Surgeons, the authors examined 7,035 moose-vehicle collisions in the state of Maine from 2003 to 2017. Of these, 26 (0.37%) resulted in at least one human fatality. By comparison, 50,281 deer-vehicle collisions occurred during the same period, only 10 (0.02%) of which resulted in at least one human fatality.

Here is the aftermath of such a collision.

As you can see hitting a moose is devastating. It is definitely the last animal I want to hit with my vehicle.
