Have you ever asked yourself if you can use a potato as a suppressor? I know I haven’t but apparently somebody did because they made a video of it.
The YouTube channel Destroy Everything made a video in a search to determine if different hollowed out vegetables and fruits would work to muffle the sound of a .22 rifle.
The group fires a control shot to measure the decibels. They then start shooting the rifle with a sweet potato then move on to an eggplant followed by a zucchini and finally a watermelon all connected to the muzzle.
Surprisingly the potato seems to suppress the .22 so he tries it out next time with a .30-30. Those results are not too surprising.
Hopefully, this video does not encourage the ATF to start requiring tax stamps for tubers.
