Elk Hunter Arrows Charging Bear In The Face

Russel Ferster was hunting Elk with his brother in the Crazy Mountains of Montana.

After hitting a cow call a black bear charged into their location. It paused 15 feet away and then charged again. Russel had a split second to draw, aim, and shoot. He send his arrow straight into the bears head right above the eye. Dropping it at his feet.

When He dropped the bear off to be mounted the Taxidermist inspected the skull and said if the arrow would have penetrated 1/16 of an inch less it might not have stopped him and the story would be entirely different. Russel believes he is lucky to be alive and will never go into bear country without a handgun or bear spray again.
