On New Year’s day In Walterboro South Carolina, a father and 9-year-old daughter were out doing a deer drive. A careless hunter thought he was shooting at a deer, but instead, he shot the father and daughter.
Kim Drawdy, 30, and his daughter Lauren, 9, were shot by another hunter around 2:30 p.m. Both died from the gunshot wounds. They died at the scene, Colleton County Coroner Richard Harvey said.
The South Carolina DNR is investigating the incident but they have not made any determinations yet.
David Lucas, a spokesman for the South Carolina DNR said more details will be released after the investigation has concluded.
Hunting accidents are very rare, but it only takes one to lead to the death of a father and daughter. Let this be a reminder to everyone what is at stake when you pull the trigger and you are not 100% sure of your shot.
