Father of Three Killed in Hunting Accident

Please keep the family of Lukas R. Dudley in your prayers. Dudley was shot and killed after another hunter mistook him for a deer.

According to the New York Post, Lukas Dudley was hunting the Red Lake Reservation in Beltrami County, Minnesota. Another hunter identified as Rain Stately thought he saw a deer as shooting light waned. He fired one shot from his rifle; when he checked on his shot he discovers that he had fatally shot Dudley. He immediately called 911 and reported the shooting.

According to the sheriff’s office, Dudley and Stately were not part of the same hunting group and Dudley was not wearing blaze orange or other high visibility clothing at the time of the shooting.

Dudley is a father of three and our hearts go out to them and his wife. Please keep this family in your prayers.

Please make sure you are wearing hunter orange or other authorized high visibility clothing when out during rifle season. Also properly identify your target before you shoot. Accidents like this should not happen. Please keep safety in mind when you out hunting.
