Many anglers dream of catching a state record fish, but it only becomes a reality for a few. John Bonawitz from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania is now one of those few.
According to the Morning Call, the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission confirms the record catch was hauled in last month along the Susquehanna in York County. The monster flathead weighs in at a staggering 50 pounds and is more than three-and-a-half feet long.
John Bonawitz fought the big fish for 25-minutes. He was able to keep the fish alive to confirm the record and then released it back into the Susquehanna.
