Governor’s executive order says hunting and fishing are “Essential activities”

Governor Greg Abbott issued an executive order implementing essential services for the state of Texas. This executive order overrides previous local orders and will be in effect until May.

This protocol is based on the Department of Homeland Security’s guidelines for essential critical infrastructure workforce wich include “workers supporting the operation of firearm or ammunition product manufacturers, retailers, importers, distributors, and shooting ranges.”

Abbott added in his press release that it does not prohibit people from engaging in essential activities such as hunting and fishing. He went on to say that everyone still needs to maintain proper social distancing to reduce the transmission of COVID-19.

Some states are closing hunting and fishing. Governor Abbott is standing with sportsmen and common sense. He will definitely receive votes from sportsmen in the next election.
