Guess where an Elk showed up after a 275 year absents?
The Elk herds east of the Mississippi are expanding their range by pushing south.
A young bull has taken up residence in Pickens County, South Carolina. Making it the first elk in the state since the early 1700’s.
Experts say he appears to be a 2.5 year old bull that got pushed away from the herd in North Carolina. It is doubtful that he will become a permanent resident. The desire to breed will probably draw him back. But his appearance does give them hope that a small herd may one day take up residence in the state.
