We have all see videos of people hunting hogs from helicopters. The problem with them is that helicopters are load and scare the game. You are left with having to take running shots. Also, operating a helicopter is also very expensive and is not really cost effective way of acquiring pork. So Texas is taking a interesting approach to solving both of those problems.
According to CBS DFW, the Texas legislature passed a bill that would allow hunters to shoot hogs and coyotes from hot air balloons. The thinking is that a hot air balloon is quieter and offers a more stable shooting platform. They are also cheaper to operate.
The only drawback I can see is that they cannot cover the amount of ground that a helicopter can. But they may be more efficient. If you pair a hot air balloon with a suppressed rifle you may be able to drop multiple pigs without spooking them.
Who knows it just might work. I cannot speak from everyone, one but it sure sounds fun to me. What do you think would you give it a try?
