Elk are very tough animals, and this video proves that. This elk was shot in the neck with a rifle by a couple of late-season hunters. When they were processing the elk, they found an old wound from an arrow that had healed over the hide.
In the video, you can see the broadhead in the lunge. To prove that the arrow did the damage, one guy puts his mouth on the bloody windpipe and attempts to fill the lunge with air. When the lunge would not fill, it proved that this elk had lived for over a year with only one lunge!
I often hear talk about how they had a good shot and could not find their deer or elk. I am sure the hunter that hit this elk felt he would find his elk knowing that he hit lunge.
