Hunting wild pigs with dogs and knives have become fairly popular over the years. The first time I ever heard of it was on Steve Rinella’s first television show The Wild Within, but since then I have seen many videos posted to the internet using the technique. However, most of the hogs I have seen killed this way are not even close to the size of this monster killed in Texas.
According to KVUE News, Nathan Wright, 17, and Colton Roberts, 20, were using dogs to hunt wild hogs near Proctor two hours southwest of Dallas. They killed three pigs that morning but one of them was an absolute giant. The monster porker tipped the scales at a whopping 460 pounds.
It might have been the biggest hog we’ve been upon,” Colton Roberts said. “But never expected to catch one that big.”
“It’s just a big adrenaline rush for us is what it is,” Nathan Wright said. “And you get up there close and you get a big adrenaline rush and I guess that’s what keeps us stuck to the game.”
While this is not the biggest wild pig ever taken, the boys think it might be one of the largest taken with dogs and a knife. Honestly, it is the biggest one I have ever heard of take like that, but I doubt that anyone has ever kept track of that sort of thing.
If you know of a bigger one than this let us know.
