It’s official; new state record whitetail!

The Pegg buck is the new non-typical archery buck of North Carolina! It has officially been scored at 197 4/8 inches! This buck beat out the Mabry buck which scored 176 7/8 inches.

“I never thought I would kill a deer like that. I still can’t believe it,” Pegg’s said. “I never thought he was that big when I had him on camera.”

Pegg’s said that he estimated the buck to be 3.5 years old from his trail cam pictures. He is sending the jaw bone to Whitetail Labs in Oscoda, MI to get the most accurate determination of the deer’s age.
