A 400-lb black bear showed up in a neighborhood in Alligator Point, Florida. Residents knew something was wrong and called wildlife officers. The bear was shot with a tranquilizer then things went horribly wrong.

The halfway sedated bear started to panic. He ran into the water and started to drown. Adam, one of the wildlife officers, swam out to rescue the bear.
“I wasn’t sure what I was going to do when I jumped in. It was a spur of the moment decision. I had a lot of adrenaline pumping when I saw the bear in the water. I wanted to keep him from swimming into deeper water,” he said.
Adam had to drag the bear 75 yards to shore and amazingly only suffered one cut on his foot from a barnacle and one cut from the bear.
