A man went missing while hunting ginseng in the Great Smokey Mountain National Park in September of 2018. His body was discovered four days later after it was partially eaten by a black bear. The remains were sent in for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
According to USA Today, the autopsy determined that William Lee Hill Jr., 30, of Louisville, Tennessee died of a meth over dose and his body was then scavenged by a black bear.
After searchers found the body the bear that was guarding it “stayed in the area and exhibited aggressive behavior for hours.”
