SCI World Record Whitetail Raises Eyebrows

The New SCI World Record Non-Typical Whitetail was on display at their convention this past week and let us just say it turned a few heads. The tale of the tape is this 671 2/8 inches and was grown and harvested at Dakota Outfitters in Quaker City, Ohio.

The Boone and Crockett Club posted a picture of the deer on its Facebook page with the caption “Wanted: A reasonable and rational explanation of this.” And the comments started rolling in. Hunters had a lot to say about this trophy. Here are a few of my favorite comments:

To be honest I personally like the SCI scoring system, because it counts every inch of antler with no deductions, but I do not like the fact that pen raised deer are included. It makes the record book about farming and not hunting.
