Should you gut a deer near a tree stand?
This is a topic that hunters will argue about all day long. I for one will drag my deer as far away as possible before field dressing. Many hunters will leave the guts by the tree stand and not even think twice about it. These are some interesting pictures to bring up in the debate.
Now it is time for my bias rant on the topic. It is very clear that deer have amazing noses, so it is logical to assume they smell the gut pile and the smell of dead animals mean danger to deer. Most people arguing to leave it, in my opinion, are being lazy. The pictures in this post show only night time pictures of deer coming around the gut pile. Show me some trail cam pictures of mature bucks coming to a gut pile to check it out during legal shooting light. You can’t!
