As a young kid I was put in shooting safety classes through 4H. My grandma taught the class to myself and 4 others. When we started the class, it was constantly reciting the safety rules for handling guns. At the top of the list of rules was, always keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction. Then keep your finger off the trigger until ready to fire. I had to repeat that so many times as a kid that I will never forget it. Although I consider myself to be extremely careful, I can not honestly claim I never loose focus.
Some shocking pictures, that recently surfaced on Facebook, show a hole in a mans hand from a gun shot. I know most people will see these and call the guy stupid and many other insults. Lets not forget that anyone of us could be this guy if we do not pay attention, if only for a split second. I write about experienced hunters getting shot many times every year. Let this be a reminder for all of us to stay safe this year!
