Woman Faces 25-Years in Prison after Police Discover “Cache” of Fake Guns

Back in 2019, the police raided the home of a New York woman and confiscated 22 prop firearms. Now the woman faces charged with that could net her up to 25 years in prison.

According to the Blaze, the NYPD raided Elizaveta Zlatkis’ home in 2019 and confiscated 22 guns, and charged her with first-degree criminal possession of a weapon. She faces a possible 25-year prison sentence.

Here is where the story takes a turn. 21 out of the 22 guns were not real. They were either airsoft rifles, toy replicas, or starter pistols. The only real gun was stripped of all internal mechanisms and rendered inoperable.

The fact that they were fake also did not stop the police from posing with the fake weapons like they did some type of good deed getting these props off the street.

Zlatkis used the guns in a prop business where she rented out the guns to be used in rap videos and other productions.

The fact that the guns were fake makes no difference to law enforcement. According to Bearing Arms, “In the eyes of the law, Zlatkis may very well be a gun owner, since a firearm is defined federally to include a finished frame or receiver for a gun, even if it doesn’t have a trigger attached to it.”

“Even starter pistols meet the definition of a firearm under federal law because the ATF says they can be ‘readily converted’ into a real firearm,” the outlet said.

Zlatkis has been fighting the first-degree weapons charge for over a year, which is based on possession of ten or more firearms, and Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz has declined to drop the case against Zlatkis, who during that time refused to take a plea deal.

This case highlights the absurdity of gun laws and the people who choose to enforce them. There is not a sane person who can make a legitimate argument as to why this woman deserves a day behind bars.
